How to make sütlaç at home

As with many recipes, there are different variations to prepare Sütlaç, in this case what changes is also the consistency. There are those who love it creamier and those who prefer it more liquid. Therefore, the secret to a good result is to be able to find the right consistency, the one that satisfies our personal taste. The choice of aroma to add is also personal, the most common are cinnamon, vanilla and vanillin. Among the ingredients you will also find an egg indicated as optional, the choice to use it or not depends on the type of sütlaç we want to prepare. For the simple one you don’t need it for the one baked in the oven. Here is our sütlaç recipe.

Instructions for preparing sütlaç at home

Take the 100 grams of rice and wash them for 2-3 minutes under running water, then in a saucepan add the washed rice and 300 ml of water and cook the rice until the water is completely absorbed.
Once the rice is cooked, dissolve the rice flour with a glass of milk, add the remaining milk, the mixture of rice flour and milk, the vanilla pod and the sugar. Cook and once boiling has started, continue for a further 6-8 minutes.
After this time, let the mixture cool a bit and when it is warm add 1 egg yolk. Put the mixture into the crock pots and cook in a bain-marie under the grill at 180 degrees, until the surface is slightly burned.
Leave to cool in the fridge for 3-4 hours and serve, to taste, with chopped hazelnuts.
